| I must say I have found Neil Griffith's comments on the Saltire particularly concerning. I don't know which branch of the services he belonged but certainly when I was with the Argylls our preference was to have the Saltire rather than the Union Flag. That does not mean we denegrate the Union flag but the Saltire better reflects our origins and tradition. If it is good enough to be used by the MoD in recruitment advertising then it is certainly good enough to be flown over Edinburgh Castle. Your views, Mr Griffiths, are not representative of the servicemen I have spoken to on this subject and you are in danger of making the Legion look like a political organisation. |
